Good morning. I hope someone will chime in on this and correct me if I am wrong because I have never connected a BNS in this way. I would gather that if you purchased a serial to USB adapter this might do the trick. The BNS only offers serial connections. It's a great unit but this is the one major drawback in it's keeping up with current tech trends. You should be able to find these adapters at best buy, stapels, and other electronic stors. Belcon makes one and I am sure there are others.

yeah, my only suggestion is the USB to serial adaptor, it'd be the easiest way for you.

I don't mean to step in on this topic, but can you do the same for a versa point printer? its about 20 years old. I always wondered how the computer would find the bns or printer. thanks and again sorry

Ok great, so I look for this serial to USB connector, then I'd use windisk to transfer my files?

Thanks guys!

Is this what I'm looking for?

Can you recommend any store where I can bring in my bns and cable? Lol, so clueless!

I would personally use a belkon serial to USB adapter. I've had good success getting these to work with the BNS in conjunction with a USB port. You can usually pick them up at micro center, or best buy.

Ya gotta love those recommendations. Yup, belcon seems tube be the way to go. Yes this should work with the printer as well. My sister uses a serial to usb adapter to hook the juliet to her laptop.

Thanks all. Ok, so I get this belkon serial to USB... Then, do I connect my bns directly, or do I still use my current cable?

Will my laptop see my bns as another external storage, or do I use windisk?

Thanks again! I really want to backup my bns.

You'll still connect with your BNS serial cable. Then, install win disk. Once you've done that in the device manager under ports Com and LPT1 make note of what com port your USB to serial adapter has been assigned to. Then in my computer shift f10 on the win disk option, and press enter on win disk properties. Make sure to change com port from win disk default, to whatever com port the USB adapter was assigned to in the device manager.

Ok, at office depot, I found a Belkin USB to serial. It is around $40 and the description states the following:

USB-to-serial cable adapter provides an easy, convenient way to connect your computer
to a serial device.
Connect your handheld, modem, digital camera and other devices with an RS-232 serial
connector to a desktop or notebook computer.
USB compatible with Windows 98SE/Me/2000/XP, and Mac OS 8.6 and later. Available
USB port required.

Is this what I want? I know that the port on my bns doesn't look like the connector on my digital camera. So, I'm a bit confused.
